Radio-based light management system for 
outdoor light and smart city applications

 

Our LIMAS Air SYNC light management system allows a demand-based, intelligent control of lighting on streets, squares, parks and industrial areas. Even complex smart city projects can be easily implemented. The system enables wireless control and grouping of luminaires via a self-organising mesh network. Cloud connectivity is optional and can be implemented using special controllers. Integrated eSIM communication ensures secure data exchange with the cloud. The mesh network can also operate completely independently of the cloud, which is particularly advantageous for critical infrastructures.

Light-on-Demand

When the motion sensor of an RFL luminaire with controller detects a road user, the luminaire automatically increases the illuminance from a defined background level to 100%. LIMAS Air SYNC uses radio communication to proactively switch on neighbouring luminaires.

SYSTEM VERSIONS

The light management system LIMAS is available in two system versions. Choose either the version with USB-dongle, which enables control and monitoring of the light fittings on site, or the version with RFL LASC DS GPS SIM, which enables central control and monitoring of the light fittings from anywhere in the world.

Version with USB dongle (stand-alone solution, no cloud connection)

With this system solution, the luminaires can be programmed and read out on site in the field using a USB dongle and Windows PC/tablet.

The luminaire parameters such as dimming level, run-on time and behaviour in the event of motion detection are stored in the radio controls/HUBs. The luminaires can be operated without a connection to the USB dongle. Both items also each contain a photocell for a twilight switch. Here, one controller is defined as the master brightness sensor in the field, which transmits the correspondingly measured brightness value to all other controller in the field (slave).

At least one controller is required for time-accurate switching via the light management system. This HUB supplies the integrated GPS antenna and the connection to satellites in the neighbourhood the exact time and forwards it to neighbouring HUBs via radio. HUBs via radio.

With this system solution, the luminaires can be programmed, read out and monitored remotely using cloud access via any Internet browser and any operating system  . The RFL LASC DS GPS SIM uses its integrated SIM card to wirelessly connect neighbouring controller to the cloud

The RFL LASC DS GPS SIM uses the integrated GPS antenna and the connection to satellites in the vicinity to provide the exact time and forwards this to neighbouring controller via radio. The exact position is also recorded using satellite technology. 1)

The luminaire parameters such as dimming level, run-on time and behaviour in the event of motion detection are stored in the radio controller. The controller of the luminaires therefore continue to work independently even without a connection to the cloud. Both items each contain a photocell for twilight switching. Here, one HUB is defined as the master brightness sensor in the field, which transmits the correspondingly measured brightness value to all other controller in the field (slave).

1) Automatic location detection is only available for GPS-enabled controllers. Controllers without an integrated GPS module require manual positioning within the map view.
