Conventional emergency light fittings with an incorporated battery set may usually be applied at a temperature range from -5°C up to +30°C /40°C only. In case of ambient temperatures below -5°C these light fittings are subject to quite extensive modifications which, however, cannot at all compensate the considerable deficits of fluorescent tubes used for an emergency operation.  

The new LED emergency light fitting manufactured by SCHUCH under no. 162 601/65/1 LED with an incorporated  battery set is considered a light fitting which combines the advantages of the LED at the low temperature range with the advantages of a battery heating system and which, thereby ensures that the light fitting will be safely and reliably operating in the mains and in the emergency mode at a wide range of the ambient temperature from -40°C up to +50°C.

The light fitting operates with 6 Highpower LED in the mains as well as in the emergency mode. In case of low ambient temperatures the integrated heating system ensures a correct battery charging process as well as a burning time of at least 1 hour in the emergency mode at a continuously high luminous flux even if the ambient temperature goes down to -40°C. For this reason and by taking into consideration the advantage of an immediately full light output with a luminous flux factor of about 65% in the emergency mode even at -40°C, this light fitting is considered to be superior to any conventional solution with fluorescent tubes.


This light fitting is available in the following 2 versions:

For high ambient temperatures from -5°C up to +50°C (type H50) and for low ambient temperatures and a wide temperature range from -40°C up to +50°C (type T40).

There is a DIP switch at the micro processor controlled emergency inverter which allows to set the range of the incoming voltage to different rated voltages. Hence with this excellent feature a worldwide application of the light fitting is possible. It is an ideal solution for emergency and safety illumination as well as for lighting escape routes at areas with very low or very high ambient temperatures or at climate zones with extreme temperature fluctuations. A successful salt spray test of severity level 2 has confirmed that these light fittings may also be applied at off-shore areas such as wind power plants or ships without any problems.
