Innovative in a technically very ambitious field For more than a century SCHUCH has been considered a specialist for problem solvings in the field of illumination especially in case of extremely rough ambient conditions. Explosion protected light fittings belong to this area where quality and innovation always play the most important part like e.g. with regard to explosion protected luminaires with ECG (electronic control gear) for operating bi-pin fluorescent tubes. After an extensive work of research and development SCHUCH made an application to the "Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig" for a test of an electronic control gear with regard to its explosion protection acc. to the European Standards ENB 50014 and EN 50017. This happened on March 1, 1985. Already on January 10, 1986 a certificate of the "Physikalisch Technischen Bundesanstalt" was available. With this certificate SCHUCH disposed worldwide of the first explosion protected light fitting with an electronic ballast. Only 3 years later SCHUCH launched the first explosion protected luminaire with an electronic ballast for operating normal bi-pin fluorescent tubes. This world novelty was a pioneering solution under economical points of view. Thus, SCHUCH became a pioneer for explosion protected luminaires for fluorescent tubes. Meanwhile, more than a decade has passed and almost 1 million of explosion-proof light fittings with an electronic ballast are successfully operating all over the world.
Further world novelties were shown at the Hanover Fair 1999: The first PTB certified industrial-type light fittings as well as suspended luminaires have been presented there operating with induction-type lamps of several brands. Lamp life: more than 60,000 hours. And at the LIGHT and BUILDING 2002 Fair in Frankfurt SCHUCH has again shown the ways. All SCHUCH ECGs (electronic control gears) for explosion-proof light fittings have got an "end-of-life switching-off system " acc. to CDV IEC 61347-2-3. Some of these ECGs have been certified for application at an ambient temperature of +60°C. At the LIGHT and BUILDING 2004 Fair in Frankfurt SCHUCH presented new products for ZONES 2 and 22 such as luminaires with diffusers and plane-surface projectors. Thus, the production program for dust-explosion protection has been considerably extended. With these light fittings SCHUCH disposes of a range of products in the greatest variety as far as lighting engineering for the explosion protection is concerned. Technical supplement |
